Formulation Chemist - Coatings

Formulation Chemist - Coatings
Your goal in this position is to formulate, and conduct experiments and tests on new coatings and products on an ongoing basis. Primarily you’ll be working with acrylic, epoxy, and polyurethane resins. You’ll also be in charge of our lab, and we’d love for you to find ways to implement process improvements and efficiencies across the board.
You’re someone who is highly driven, and always searching for the opportunity to bring forward new ideas, ways to improve products, and make sure we’re always on the cutting edge.
Practically speaking, you will:
- Design multivariate studies of different formulations of particular coatings and products, minimizing the number of replicates while maximizing the amount of information obtained
- Conduct studies on long-term stability of products and coatings
- Manage trials, pilot studies, and panel tests to compare reactions of potential customers to proposed formulations
- Analyze results of experimental studies and write reports for both corporate records and regulatory bodies
- Develop prototype products for customer testing
- Assist with scale-up from development to production quantities

The Details
This is a full-time permanent position, working Monday to Friday, 8am – 4pm. We are a medium sized coatings manufacturer that values human interaction, relationships and people. Qualifications
- Experience working as a laboratory chemist
- Strong mathematical and statistical skills
- Experience conducting experiments, analyzing results, drawing conclusions, and proposing next steps
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field
