We’re Geriatrics in Motion Family Medicine Clinic; a clinic of family physicians dedicated to the health and well-being of Halifax area families, with a focus on geriatric health.


We’re looking for an experienced Medical Office Administrator who can step confidently and seamlessly into our clinic. We’re hoping our search ends with you. 


Medical Office Administrator


There are two priorities for this role: patient service and administration.

You’ll be the face and voice of our clinic as you answer phones and welcome people when they arrive. They’ll look to you for guidance, whether you’re transferring a call to a clinician or walking someone through the patient intake process. Your people skills, empathy, and positive energy will serve you well.

You’ll also be responsible for the administrative functions of our clinic. You’ll help our physicians and nurses do their jobs more efficiently through effective patient scheduling, as well as look for process improvements that will benefit the clinic as a whole.

In addition, you’ll



  • Answer phone and schedule appointments.



  • Manage email and electronic medical records (EMR) 



  • Check patients in and out 



  • Manage patient files to ensure all necessary info is present for upcoming appointments 



  • Process delivery and shipment of laboratory specimens as required 



  • Anticipate the needs of the practice and promptly communicate with your team to ensure all needs are considered and met 



  • Help develop new procedures to increase the efficiency and success of the practice.


You’re a perfect fit for this role if you’re a mature, professional individual with strong interpersonal skills and with the ability to multitask in a busy office environment. You should be detail oriented, compassionate and naturally organized.


Working @ Geriatrics in Motion Family Medicine Clinic


This is full-time permanent position, working Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm, as well as one evening/week on occasion. We offer an attractive compensation package, commensurate with experience, as well as vacation, and terrific work environment.

Qualifications 



  • Experience as a clinical receptionist, medical secretary, or office administrator 



  • Experience working with electronic medical records 



  • Experience working in a customer service role 



  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel (scheduling, formulas, tables, formatting) 



  • Post-secondary education in medical administration is an asset.
