The Opportunity

This role is designed for someone who thrives in advisory, strategic, and relationship‑driven work.

To help you determine whether this role is the right fit, it is important to be clear about what it does not involve:

  • This is not a travel‑heavy role. Domestic travel is minimal, and there is no international travel.
  • This is not an on‑the‑ground implementation role. You will not be working directly with grantees, running programs, or conducting field visits.
  • This is not a program‑specific subject‑matter expert role. You will not specialize in a particular issue area; instead, the focus is on advising clients across diverse philanthropic interests.

The Position

As a Senior Philanthropy Advisor on the Donor Advising Team, you lead and nurture relationships with new and existing clients. You partner closely with foundations and philanthropists, guide them through complex decisions, and shape high‑impact strategies that advance their goals. Your work centers on client engagement, strategic thinking, project leadership, and delivering exceptional advisory support.

You design and oversee complex workstreams, guaranteeing that deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and at the highest level of quality. You bring a proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset. You anticipate clients’ needs and craft tailored, strategic approaches that reflect the right mix of staffing, methodology, and expertise.

You operate with clarity, confidence, and a genuine commitment to creating a collaborative team environment. You provide daily guidance and support, project‑based feedback, and direct management to team members.

What We’re Looking For

You have a background in consulting, working with foundations and high-net-worth individuals to help guide their giving. You may have worked at an NGO or philanthropic organization. You are curious and humble. You understand relationships are important and nurture them.

We’re seeking a candidate who demonstrates:

  • Impeccable project management skills to lead multiple client-based workstreams and respond to ad hoc requests
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills to execute on project deliverables for clients
  • Strong communication skills, through writing/editing and/or facilitation
  • A positive, team-centric attitude and willingness to both lead and support the team to complete long-term projects and meet short-term client needs in a fast-paced environment
  • A demonstrated track record of effective leadership and people‑management skills
  • An ability to build new client relationships and thoughtfully strengthen and grow existing ones to advance business development goals

Qualifications

  • High emotional intelligence, demonstrated by building rapport with colleagues and clients
  • 10 years of relevant professional working experience in global health and development, philanthropy, communications, or fundraising preferred
  • Proficiency with a range of technology tools, including strong skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and visualization, as well as familiarity with project management, collaboration, and CRM platforms, is desired
  • Experience simultaneously engaging and managing multiple stakeholder groups, as well as leading people and teams, with additional experience in family philanthropy, is desirable
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher is required for this role
