About Geneva Global Ethiopia (GGE)
Geneva Global Ethiopia (GGE) is an international non-governmental organization registered under the Agency of Civil Society Organization with certificate No 1724. GGE has been working in the education sector since 2011 G.C particularly on accelerated education program and EiE. Currently GGE is seeking candidates for a Communication Officer role for an upcoming emergency response program for IDPs and host communities in Ethiopia with specific emergency-affected target woredas and schools of Oromia and Amhara regions.
Job Overview
The Communication Officer will lead the development and implementation of communication strategies that promote GGE’s mission and achievements under this project. The role involves managing internal and external communications, coordinating visibility efforts, and supporting advocacy activities to raise awareness of education and emergency interventions.
Major Roles and Responsibilities
Communication and Public Engagement
- Develop and implement communication strategies aligned with program goals.
- Produce newsletters, factsheets, blogs, and case studies to showcase project impact.
- Ensure consistent branding and visibility of GGE and donor logos in all communication materials.
- Support storytelling efforts from the field, capturing human interest stories and visual content (photos/videos).
Media and Advocacy
- Build and maintain media relationships to disseminate program success.
- Draft press releases, social media posts, and other media content.
- Organize events, campaigns, and media visits to project sites.
Internal Communication and Knowledge Management
- Document best practices, success stories, and lessons learned.
- Coordinate internal updates and information sharing across fields and head offices.
- Support the translation and dissemination of key materials in local languages.
Partnership and Coordination
- Work closely with colleagues, partners, consortium members, and government bodies on joint communication and visibility initiatives.
- Represent GGE in external communication and advocacy forums.

Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, International Development, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in communication roles, preferably in NGOs or development organizations.
- Skills: Strong writing, editing, and design skills; proficiency in communication tools (Canva, Adobe, MS Office, etc. social media management.
- Language: Fluent in English, Amharic, and Afan Oromo.
- Soft Skills: Creative thinker, relationship builder, and strong presentation skills.
