Production Manager

Position Summary:
The Production Manager reports to the VP of Manufacturing and supports personnel management and day-to-day operations of the manufacturing facility, overseeing a mid-sized production team. This is a full-time, salaried position based in Springfield, VT.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Personnel Management

Manage a mid-sized production team, building and maintaining positive working relationships with staff

Assist with the hiring and onboarding of new employees
-
Oversee new employee training, and assess team members’ skills and competency gaps; facility cross training, coaching and mentoring

Lead performance evaluations and compensation reviews

Oversee timekeeping and timecard approval
-
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations and morale
-
Assist with task delegation and provide hands-on support on the production floor as needed
Production & Operations
-
Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate waste, improve process efficiency, reduce costs, and drive continuous improvement through tools such as 5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping, and standardized work.

Create and maintain quality standards; track and oversee quality control for materials and finished products

Assist with inventory management and organization

Own the SQDCI Operational Metric Board, including:

Maintaining a database of daily and weekly incidents

Running reports to track performance and KPIs
-
Leading weekly huddles with the production team to review Performance Indicators
-
Serve as first point of contact for facility security system alerts
Safety Program
-
Manage and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
-
Maintain the safety manual and coordinate safety training
-
Lead the safety committee and serve as point of contact for safety audits

Conduct monthly safety inspections
Communication & Leadership
-
Build strong collaborative relationships with peers and management team

Participate in broader leadership initiatives as needed

Present operational information and updates clearly to management
Qualifications:
-
5+ years of production management or senior supervisory experience, including significant employee management, in a manufacturing environment

Experience with Lean Manufacturing methodology

Significant experience with manufacturing safety protocols
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Workspace (Drive, Docs)

Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Sage X3 or similar)

Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings
-
CNC experience preferred

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to staff
Physical Requirements:

Mechanical aptitude, with ability to perform moderate machine maintenance

Comfortable using hand and air tools; occasional use of forklifts, hoists, and other assembly equipment
-
Ability to lift 50 lbs. safely
-
Ability to travel to Burlington 2-4 times per year
