About You
The Staff Accountant works directly with the Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager. The dynamic position requires a technology-savvy individual with strong knowledge of accounting systems, including cash management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger. The position plays a key role in monthly close, general ledger reconciliation and year end audits.
Responsibilities

Manage the Accounts Payable inbox and oversee invoice intake, review, and upload into the ERP system.

Code invoices and expenses to the appropriate general ledger accounts, grant classifications, program allocations, and other cost centers.

Support uploading due diligence materials for vendor onboarding

Track invoices against vendor schedules and overall contract tracking

Entering and coding of bank entries, such as accounts receivable and deposits.

Maintain organization of files related to project, vendor, and funder records.

Support annual filing of 1099s to vendors (1096 to IRS).

Willingness to accept additional assignments and be flexible in a dynamic work environment.
Qualifying for this role means you have a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience) and 1-3 years in accounting or finance, preferably within the not-for-profit sector. You have a solid understanding of not-for-profit accounting practices and are able to work independently while demonstrating strong customer service and clear communication with colleagues and clients. With excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks, you efficiently manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines. You are proficient in ERP systems (NetSuite preferred), Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and online accounting platforms. Knowledge of grant management systems, banking cash management, and IT systems integration is a plus. You are familiar with GAAP and current accounting regulations, and have the ability to identify problems, recommend improvements, and ensure compliance. You thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments, handle ambiguity well, and are eager to learn new systems. With a service-oriented mindset and focus on continuous improvement, you maintain confidentiality and are a collaborative team player.

Working at Global Impact
This is a full-time position and may be fully remote, with travel to headquarters in Washington, DC, for team meetings on occasion. Local employees are in a hybrid work model, with 1-4 days per month in our Washington, DC, office. Visa sponsorship is not available.

The salary range is $57,500 - $67,500, depending on the experience you bring. On top of the competitive salary that we are offering, you’ll receive 16 paid holidays and 25 paid days off.
