Service Manager

As our new Service Manager, you’ll be an integral part of the daily business in the shop. Whether you’re chatting with the familiar faces that come in for regular service or new customers, or working closely with our stellar mechanics to make sure every repair goes just right, you’ll need to bring a healthy dose of enthusiasm to work every day.
The first part of succeeding in this job will involve mastering our technology systems. This includes our shop management and scheduling software, cloud-based inspection software and Google Drive. It is absolutely essential that you are technologically proficient, and not afraid to use an IPad or learn a new software system.
Once you’ve figured out how everything works, you’ll become our go to person for which car is going where, and why. That’s why we’re looking for someone who’s self-motivated and reliable: you’ll need to prioritize and organize your time effectively.
Another big part of this job will be working with the great folks of Nelson. Customer satisfaction is the backbone of our success, and as our new Service Advisor, you’ll be the face of our business for everyone who walks through the door. Sometimes that means listening and communicating effectively while trying to resolve conflicts, and other times it’s about double-checking that the service techs are up to date on what parts are coming in.
Either way, if you’re happiest when helping people, you’ll fit right in.
Practically speaking, you will:
- Manage reception, both in person and by phone/email
- Schedule appointments, accounting for repair length and customer timelines
- Order parts online and by phone, and update inventory databases
- Manage daily data entry in our systems
- Communicate customer concerns effectively and accurately to mechanics
- Write accurate estimates/invoices in conjunction with mechanics
- Keep precise financial transaction records for parts/services/expenses etc.
- Complete monthly financial statements
- Maintain the front desk area for safety and appearance
Working @ Downtown Automotive
This is a full-time, permanent position working Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. Salary range is $15-$35/hour, commensurate with experience, and includes a full benefits package and paid vacation.

Qualifications
- Experience in a customer-facing role
- Experience in simple accounting or bookkeeping
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in excel, and ability to learn inventory/scheduling software
- Experience working with cloud-based software, including Google Drive, Sharepoint etc.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Experience in the automotive industry (an asset)
- Management training and experience (an asset)
