Project Manager (Business Development)
For most of us, a walk outside is as simple as putting on a pair of shoes. Getting around is easy to take for granted.
But for many people, mobility poses profound challenges in daily life, not the least of which is the isolation it often causes. And when you can’t move around easily, it’s near impossible to enjoy the incredible benefits of being active and engaged in life.
That’s where the Alinker comes in.
Who are we?
We’re the Alinker, and we are committed to shifting the sickcare mindset to a new paradigm that is designed for our health and wellbeing, on a systemic level. We create revolutionary vehicles that are designed for how we want to live, regardless of mobility challenges. We make it fun and easy for everyone to stay physically active, socially connected, and emotionally engaged in our community.
We view the Alinker as a vehicle for social change. The Alinker itself is a non-motorized walking bike, our first product -- designed, manufactured, and distributed with a mission to support the way we want to live. As a vehicle for social change it gives us the opportunity to address systemic issues that currently drive people with disabilities into poverty and complete dependence on a system that is not designed for their wellbeing.
Established in 2014, we’re experiencing ongoing growth. Our ecosystem needs to be developed, with increasing potential to build partnerships and allies that are drawn to our mission. We’re looking for a new team member to lead strategic business projects that will expand our reach and help us create an inclusive future.
Who are you?
You’re a mission-driven professional with experience in project management, business development and exposure to the healthcare, cycling and/or adaptive industries.
You understand that existing medical systems are dysfunctional – that we have a sickcare system which is motivated by making money. You however are motivated by the need to shift the paradigm to a healthcare system that supports wellbeing.
At Alinker, we’re bound by a shared vision and a commitment to creating an inclusive world. Join us, because together we move differently.
Project Manager (Business Development)
As our new business developer, your main goal is to build strategic corporate partnerships to expand the Alinker’s reach into the market, and society at large.
Your role will be project-based, and you’ll be involved in multiple projects at any given time.
Your focus will be to research and uncover opportunities with prospective partners, imagine collaborations and find synergies. You’ll reach out to organizations/corporations to assess alignment, establish trials, and analyze results -- to extrapolate a larger constellation of sales.
Your ultimate goal is to engage external stakeholders and align how the Alinker matches with, and illuminates their mission. You’ll strengthen and create partnerships, advocate a movement for inclusion and health, explore how the Alinker can be integrated into the structure of organizations, and uncover how we can make the Alinker available and accessible to everybody, regardless of income.
This is a dynamic and highly challenging role which involves collaboration and co-creation with a diverse team of superpowers. You’ll have the opportunity to shape your work as you develop the business.
Why you’re made for this role:
Your biggest assets are your ability to establish strong, strategic relationships and your excellent communication skills. You can ‘see’ and create a bigger picture.
You love connecting with others, and the stakeholders you engage will appreciate your straightforward attitude and your ability to listen deeply, connect and build relationships, while bringing our message across.
You also have experience bringing a product to market and understand the challenges that come along with business development – those challenges thrill you.
Lastly, you’re someone who understands that a comfort-zone is not the place where change happens. Someone who will take advantage of the freedom and flexibility offered in this role; is highly accountable and who will build impact as we grow.
The Details
This is a full-time position working out of Toronto / Montreal. Two days per week, you’ll work in-office, and the rest of the time you’ll work remotely. Travel is expected. You’ll start on a 3-month contract that we hope will lead to a permanent role. We’re offering a monthly base of $5,000/month plus commission ($75 per Alinker sold), based on milestones.
Your schedule and time off will be flexible. You’ll need to be available for your clients and your colleagues, but when and how you work is up to you. We co-create our working environment.
