Help us breathe new life into
tired, old interview questions
You likely recognize these questions from the interviews you've given, but the problem is that prospective candidates recognize them too.
And not only do candidates recognize the questions, they've rehearsed the perfect answers. To get better responses, we need to ask the right questions. That's where you come in.
We'd like to hear your suggestions for updating these — or any other — predictable interview questions.
- Why should we hire you?
- What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?
- What was the biggest accomplishment of your career to date?
- What did you like or dislike about your previous job?
- What would your co-workers say about you?
- What motivates you?
- Do you prefer to work alone or on a team?
- How do you measure your own performance?
- What changes in the workplace have caused you difficulty and why?
- Give me an example of when you haven't gotten along with others. How did you handle it?
For example
Instead of asking...
Try this...
Tell me about yourself?
What was your favorite job while in high school? Why was it your favorite? What did it teach you?
Tell me about a workplace challenge and how you overcame it.
Tell me about the last time you attempted to do something but failed? What did you learn from this experience?
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
What were you doing five years ago? If I asked you then where you’d be today, would you have said here? What explains the differences?
